Mamie on the Mound, by Leah Henderson and George Doutsiopoulos

Mamie was a professional baseball player on a men’s baseball team. After not being allowed onto the women’s team because it was segregated, she instead got a contract in 1953 to become a pitcher for the Indianapolis Clowns within the Professional Negro Leagues. Her record as a pitcher in the professional leagues was 33-8 in games won.

Totally Bamboo a Slice of Life Indiana Serving and Cutting Board

Not a book about Indiana , but a cutting board with a map of Indiana. Would be interesting for young children to look at – there’s so many great Indiana town names like Muncie and Kokomo.

Remember though, etched cutting boards collect more bacteria in the hard-to-clean surfaces. So I don’t know that I’d recommend this cutting board as sanitary, but it is decorative and a quick lesson in geography.
